About The Test

The neurotransmitter test assesses levels of specific neurotransmitters, amino acid precursors, and metabolites. Testing a full panel of markers provides a framework for understanding the connection of our body's physical health to our brain's well-being.

ZRT's profile is unique in that it contains both precursors and downstream metabolites of the neurotransmitters, which allows an assessment of whether there is a deficiency in amino acids, vitamin or mineral cofactors or if there may be genetic polymorphisms (SNPs) at play. Only with a full assessment can you create an appropriate treatment plan.

Since hormones exert strong effects on neurotransmitters, ZRT generally recommends starting with hormone testing if symptoms have onset around menopause or if other hormone imbalances are present.
